Back to the Future: Robert Zemeckis

[Revisit Review]

One of my deepest, darkest secrets as a film buff is that I've never actually seen the Back to the Future sequels. But today, October 21, 2015, that will change: I'm binge-watching the whole trilogy. I have to say, the first film holds up as a pitch-perfect piece of Hollywood entertainment. Wildly entertaining, effortlessly inventive, it's so close to perfect that practically every single film involving time travel that came out afterwards has had to contend with its legacy. The screenplay is razor-sharp and memorable. The visual language is so subtle yet brilliant that you hardly notice that many parts of it could work as a silent film.
